One problem seldom comes alone

A broken engine, new stickers with her name and a composting toilet. After two days of mourning I realized its three weeks to midsummer, a weekend when you as a boat owner don’t wont to be stuck at the pier.

A broken engine, new stickers with her name and a composting toilet. After two days of mourning I realized its three weeks to midsummer, a weekend when you as a boat owner don’t wont to be stuck at the pier.

So I grabbed the toolbox and started disassemble the old engine a Volvo Penta Md17C from the 80’s. I thought it should be easy to fix but the worst case scenario was a fact, instead of changing some gaskets and renovate the injectors it needs new pistons, piston linings and a lot of other new parts.

So instead of renovating we are going for a road trip this Thursday for picking up a used VP Md17c in south of Sweden. Which is going to be a lot cheaper. This means we have to lift the boat out of the water and because of some rigg problems we will take the rigg down also.

Mean while thinking and looking for a solution with the engine problem I decided to replace the old twist and lock toilet from Jabsco that has given us a lot of headache. Whit a brand new Nature’s Head composting toilet. We have been reading and discussing this for many years and now as live aboards we took action and bought one. We really hope to make some difference for the environment buy saving the water.

It’s not fully installed yet but we already love it and embraced it as a family and crew member 😉 There is some electric wiring and ventilation still to be installed before we can use it. And the floor will be painted white and the old holes in the wall will be covered by 3D carbon fiber sheet. We will make a special tribute blog post about this later when we have been using it for a while.

We have also been filming some materials for our Youtube channel and will soon be sharing our thoughts and adventures there. If you like our blog our Youtube channel you can sponsor our journey on Patreon.

Although it’s has been a lot of struggles lately we still have good hope and feel that we will get the boat in shape for blue water sailing and soon on our way towards the adventure.  There is a lot more work to be done on the boat then we expected and hoped for. To finance this we have been talking about to find sponsors that can help us with various things like autopilot and safety equipment etc etc.

Thanks for reading and following.
