This Saturday the tarpaulin went of and our beauty got to se the sun for the first time since October. Such a pleasant feeling! A feeling of hope, happiness and a lust for adventure. Now we can see that she once again will se water, it’s been way to long since last time.
Today we managed to get Pelle into the boat by hanging him in a babywrap on Marica’s belly while climbing the ladder, it was a piece of cake! He was so happy to be with us inside the boat and even fell asleep while we did some work. We had our first lunch in the saloon for this season, it feels good to start moving on board our things and to be able to just relax between the tasks. this season is going to be awesome.
The to do list on a sailboat are a never ending story, for every check something else goes broke or you have to start over with something new you haven’t thought of. But now things are going forward with the maintenance. Sunny weather and happy faces.
The last few days we have been doing some electrical and interior work. There is going to be a new panel at the navigation station with a new VHF and batteri monitor and a lot of old cables are being trowed out, and some new installed. All illumination will be substituted for LED and we are buying some solar panels for charging of the batteries when not in port.
These are the major things for now, the to do list is long and we are a bit thoughtful about what to do and in which order, there are too many things that should have been done long before we bought the boat.
But there are not much that compete with the feeling you get when you see things come together, and you know that you did it by yourself. We really starts to know this lady from the inside-out, after we soon have tared most of the things apart and reassembled it again.
We hope for the weather to stay sunny and warm for the up-coming weeks so we can spend a couple of hours everyday working on her, I just realized that’s it’s only 24 days until launch. It’s going to be tight to get finished and that’s for sure.
I think a whiteboard would be a great thing to write the to do list on in the boat, the most important tasks anyway. Maybe I’ll go and buy one later on tomorrow, if we find anywhere to hang it, will say.
