Spent a day in the sun at the boat yard ingested a Swedish “fika” without the classic cinnamon bun adding a Shrovetide bun to the hot coffee. In this lovely weather we felt the return of life at sea in our hearts, but it’s still winter and “Amie” is yet asleep under her plastic cover. We petted her today and promised to come back soon and begin our work towards spring launch.
This last Saturday it was finally time to go to Gothenburg and the boat show, I think it was more people there this time than the year before. Constant queues to the More 55 and Princess 49 witnessed about the curiosity in people of how these giants were constructed, we only had the patience to wait in line to check out the first of these two.
I think the More 55 is a beauty, nice finish and a well built charter boat with a high performance in mind of the constructors. The interior is well built with a high quality feeling. Nothing spectacular, neither luxurious nor budget but very much all you need in this type of boat. The skeleton is made in stainless steel, both the rig, mast and the keel is mounted on to this to make it a very strong construction. The hull is made out of vacuum injected epoxy based vinyl ester and fiberglass, to make it stronger and lighter than an ordinary polyester boat.
There are three variations of interior 3, 4 or 5 cabins with 3 heads, designed by Cossutti Yacht Design in Italia. I can definitely see myself spending a few weeks sailing the waters of the Adriatic Sea on the More 55.
The option to either buy the More 55 to rent out for charter, or charter it with or without a captain is preferential as the More Sailing arranges charter in Croatia, Greece and the Caribbean. We are not sponsored in any way from More Sailing, just very nerdy when it comes to boatlife.
The boat show had a lot of other things to offer, good food, happy people and nice boat accessories. Overall the atmosphere was inspiring and we had the chance to talk to many interesting people with creative minds, we do already looking forward to next year’s boat show.
Wish you a nice week!
